Step 1 – Gather Supplies

The first step to easy and effective organizing is gathering. This simply means collecting all of your supplies around the house and putting them in one big big pile. If you are just organizing one section of your house then just collect supplies from that section and put it in a pile.

Step 2 – Sort

This step involves going through the supplies you have gathered. Start placing all of your supplies into smaller piles with categories relating to the function (or what ever works for you). For example you could have a pile for medical things, going on walks, treats, toys, hideouts, miscellaneous, etc.

If you have a lot of old/unnecessary supplies…

Once you have placed your items in their designated piles (or even before you do) go through your things and decide what things you might want to throw out or give away.

Maybe you have a bunch of old torn/chewed up toys? Or a worn out leash? Something you/your pet never use anymore? Get rid of some of the things that aren’t going to use and are just clutter.

*If something is special to you save it, but maybe put it in a different place instead of with your useful supplies.

Step 3 – Put Things In Their Place

Once you’re done sorting, it’s time to put everything away. Try to figure out where you want to store these supplies. Are you going to hide them away in a closet? Or would you rather display them around your house in containers, baskets, and jars?

Here’s a list of some tips and ideas to get you started…

1. Get Containers/Baskets/Jars

Containers, baskets, and jars are your best friend when it comes to organizing pet supplies. They are great for things you can’t find a proper place for. Baskets are great for toys so that you have them all in one convenient location and jars are great for displaying treats. They have so many different uses for them and will make finding your supplies so much easier. Plus, they look good and are a great way to make your dedicated space look less cluttered!

2. Create a Walk Station

Any dog owner knows that storing leashes can be a pain. A walk station is an easy and simple solution to that problem. What’s more convenient than having all your necessary supplies waiting neatly at the door?

All you need are a few hooks and and a couple wall mounts or shelves at your front entrance. Then all you have to do is hang up your leashes and harnesses on the hooks, and place poo bags in the wall mounts!

3. Use Folders For Your Pets Paperwork

If you find any loose paperwork such as vet bills, adoption records, vaccination records and microchip records consider purchasing a few folders, binders, or baskets to keep them all contained in one spot. You may think that you know where everything is but you might be surprised. This tip save you a lot of frustration and anxiety in the future.

4. Create a Feeding Station

The feeding area may be one of the most cluttered places in the house. Food and water on the floor, packages of food on the ground. For dog owners specifically, creating an all in one feeding station will be worth while. This version has a slide out drawer for the bowls and a bigger drawer for your extra food. It has a shelf for extra storage and hangers on the side for leashes. When it’s not in use it just looks like an ordinary piece of furniture.

5. Use a Dog Feeding Mat

This tip ties in with the feeding station but is more accessible to everyone. If you keep your pets food bowls on the floor, consider purchasing a dog feeding mat. Dogs have a tendency to get water everywhere, which in the long run can damage your floor and will generally just make a big mess. The mat will help catch any extra water,
